On the same day, the Supreme Court of Canada granted two leaves to appeal concerning files led by Mrs. Nouraie and Mr. St-Jacques.
In the first case, the matter concerns a second-degree murder where an appeal as of right was filed. Justices Cromwell, Fish and Karakatsanis granted leave to appeal on many other grounds.
The second case concerns an appeal with leave respecting the unfitness to stand trial of an accused due to his intellectual disability. Justices Lebel, Abella and Cromwell granted leave to appeal without limitations.
